Autism Center in South Bend, Indiana
Lighthouse Autism Center in South Bend provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, focusing on play-based learning to achieve real-world progress. Kids work through our Lighthouse Fusion programs in one-on-one settings with their therapy team, with speech therapy woven right into their ABA sessions. The skills we teach feel more natural and give children more practice using them when it actually matters. Families are part of the process, helping us adjust programs as their children grow and their needs shift.
Why Choose Lighthouse for ABA Behavioral Therapy in South Bend
Families in South Bend choose Lighthouse as their ABA partner because the care doesn’t feel rushed. Therapy adjusts as kids develop, meeting them where they are while building their skillset with communication, confidence, and independence through structured play and support.
South Bend has a good mix of schools, parks, and community spaces, and your children likely move through different environments all week. Our Lighthouse Fusion model accounts for that, where our multidisciplinary team works together with the family, and so skills don’t just show up in the therapy room. They happen during activities, play, and familiar routines, progress builds steadily, and there’s space for learning to actually take hold before moving forward.

The Lighthouse Approach
At Lighthouse, ABA therapy is collaborative and play-based. The original Lighthouse Autism Center was started by parents of an autistic child, and their insights carry through to all our facilities. That perspective still shapes how we do things today.
- Therapy goals are developed by a team of BCBAs, SLPs, and registered behavior technicians, working on smaller caseloads to help keep things consistent.
- Therapy happens one-on-one in a safe, autism-friendly environment, while families stay involved through regular communication and training opportunities.
- Beyond ABA therapy, Lighthouse offers autism diagnostic testing at every location.
- Our signature Lighthouse Fusion care model integrates speech therapy directly into ABA programming.
- If needed, families and caregivers can receive support at home via community programs.
- We try to make the insurance and intake process as seamless as possible, with a dedicated team guiding you throughout enrollment.
Lighthouse Fusion®
Lighthouse Fusion addresses speech therapy and communication skills directly in daily ABA sessions. The aim is progress that sticks, and not just during therapy hours. Lighthouse learners get to practice their skills during play, learning activities, and routines they’re already familiar with. For a lot of learners, that consistency supports more natural progress. It also keeps therapy flexible and engaging, which matters when you’re working with young kids.
Diagnostic Services
Lighthouse provides autism evaluations at each location throughout Indiana and other Midwestern states. If you’re noticing any changes in your kids’ development or any other signs of autism, you can start the diagnosis process early by reaching out to our evaluation team.
Evaluations follow a collaborative approach, with licensed clinical psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and BCBAs all contributing. Our admin team will also help families with documentation and scheduling so the process feels manageable.
What to Expect During the Evaluation Process
We’ll start the process with the parents, in a virtual interview conducted by a psychologist or other licensed professional. From there, an in-person evaluation with you and your child is scheduled at the center.
- During the visit, your child meets with a qualified BCBA or another licensed clinician for roughly an hour, based on their observations.
- Standardized assessment methods like the e second editions of the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS 2) and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) may be used alongside observation and play-based interaction.
- After the appointment, a licensed psychologist will meet with your family to review the evaluation and discuss the diagnoses and recommended next steps.
